Tomorrow marks a big day for me. I saw Call and Response a year and a half ago (I even blogged about it). On that night in Atlanta, my brother and I were two of about 12 people in that theater.
The topic of the film is all about human trafficking, the sex trade, and modern day slavery. So it is understandable that the film doesn’t have people lining up to go. It’s not pretty.
But I have felt this heavy need to get this in Oroville. To give the kids that I work with something to fight for.
I am so stoked that this film is sold out. 198 seats. Fully occupied.
I heard a while back that if you want to do something fast, do it alone, but if you want to do something long, bring other people with you. That implies that going it alone isn’t sustainable, which is arguably very true when you’re fighting something like human trafficking.
Sacramento is currently the #5 city in the nation for human trafficking. It’s a hotbed. There are an estimated 17,000 slaves in the Sacramento area right now. It is unreal.
History has given me such darkness, but Jesus has given me more light than I could ever dream of.
