last week was one of the greatest camp experiences i have ever been a part of. i don’t have a ton of words to describe what went on, but I guess the best way to say it is that camp, for most kids is usually pivotal, where they find some ground to stand on and start to turn, whatever that looks like. but this week was transformational for most kids. it was like the leadership decided that kids can handle tension and they shook kids to the core. it was unreal. kids that have constant conflict washing each others feet. letting God take hold of them as a community, breaking bread together, being a part of the body. building an altar at the foot of the cross to signify surrender, and laying down the things that we carry. kids at lunch that are telling me, it’s like if we sit here and talk about it, we’re not christians. we can actually do stuff. realization moments that are priceless and beautiful. and i have to say that the song Everlasting (Inside Out) by Hillsong is one of my new favorites. i’m going to learn it tonight.

your mom’s a junior higher.

Rhonda and I just came back from a week at Junior High Camp, complete with your mom jokes for all. The speaker, Michael Pigg of west Texas, was stellar. The first night had the students setting up the amphitheater as a sanctuary, something they really got to own throughout the week. It was a great setting. I am going to post a photo album of the weeks events. The band, Provision from Point Loma, was great. They were most fun to hang out with, and found more time than one normally does to use puns. We are looking forward to Senior High Camp, where they will be back, and ybod will bring the death and destruction, again. Just a few weeks away. I can’t hardly wait.
